Product Overview

Nitoproof Top Coat EW is a solvent-free hybrid clear sealer designed as a protective overcoating product. It replaces the earlier Emer-Proof Top Coat Extended Wear product and serves as a complementary sealing layer over Nitoproof Top Coat UV membranes in waterproofing systems.

Application Requirements

Surface Preparation

Surfaces must be prepared to the following standards before applying Nitoproof Top Coat EW:

• Clean, sound, and stable substrates
• Free of loose foreign material and existing foreign coatings
• Free of laitance, release agents, and curing compounds
• Free of oil and grease residues
• Must not have wax residues

Mixing Instructions

Nitoproof Top Coat EW should be lightly stirred before use to ensure proper consistency.

Application Method

• Coverage Rate: 8 m² per litre per coat
• Application Tool: 6mm mohair roller sleeve or brush
• Application Technique: Applied in thin coating applications (not thick applications)
• Number of Coats: 2 coats recommended, depending on likelihood and degree of potential stains and marks

Drying and Curing Times

• Tack-Free/Re-coat Time: 2–4 hours (varies with surface porosity and temperature)
• Dry Film: 8–12 hours
• Foot Traffic Permitted: After 24 hours (based on normal ambient conditions of 23°C)
• Additional Drying: Allow a minimum of 24 hours at 10°C

Slip Resistance Performance

Nitoproof Top Coat EW has been tested for slip resistance when applied over base membranes:

Storage and Shelf Life

• Shelf Life: 2 years when stored in cool, dry conditions
• Storage Requirements: Keep in original, unopened packs
• Note: High temperatures and/or high humidity conditions may reduce shelf life

Supply and Packaging

• Pack Size: 15-litre containers
• Supply Format: Supplied as a liquid-applied membrane coating
• Lead Time: 14–21 days for Made-to-Order (MTO) with minimum order quantity of 55

Cleanup and Removal

• Wet State Cleanup: Water cleanup while in wet state
• Dried Material Removal:
  • Fosroc Solvent 10, or
  • Mechanical means

Application Limitations

• Thin Application Requirement: Must be applied in thin coating applications only
• Surface Restrictions: Not recommended over sandstone, limestone, and similar surfaces
• Weather Conditions: Do not apply when rain is forecast within curing times
• Immersion Applications: Not suitable for immersed areas
• Incompatible Substrates: Do not apply over wax residues, glass, fibreglass, chlorinated rubber, or epoxy coatings

Compatibility and Integration

Nitoproof Top Coat EW is specifically designed to work in conjunction with Nitoproof Top Coat UV as part of a complete waterproofing system. It can be applied over Nitoproof Top Coat UV as well as over various Nitoproof base coatings including Nitoproof 410 and Nitoproof 810 for enhanced slip resistance performance and protective benefits.
