System Design
Nitoflor PU Cement flooring is a complete system consisting of three components:
- Nitoflor PU600 - The basecoat topping
- Slip-resistant aggregate (optional) - Nitoflor Anti-Slip Grains 01 or 21
- Nitoflor PU200 - The top coat sealer
The topping is designed to be applied at two different thicknesses, with depth determined by physical site parameters and temperature resistance requirements.
Storage and Shelf Life
Nitoflor PU600 components must be stored in cool, dry conditions in original, unopened packs at temperatures between 5°C and 30°C:
- Nitoflor PU600/PU200 Part B Hardener: 18 months shelf life from manufacture
- Nitoflor PU600 Part C Fillers: 24 months shelf life from manufacture
High temperature and humidity storage may reduce shelf life.
Application Requirements
Substrate Preparation
- Concrete substrate minimum strength: 25 MPa at 28 days
- Moisture content: Less than 95% relative humidity
- Surface must be clean, dry, dust-free, and open-textured
- Preparation by mechanical means (shot blasting or scarification) recommended
- All laitance must be removed to expose sound concrete
- Application temperature range: 10°C to 30°C
Installation Method
Nitoflor PU600 should only be applied by specialist contractors recognised and trained by Fosroc. The application process involves:
- Spreading using a steel trowel or gauging rake onto primed floor
- Immediate spike rolling to release entrapped air (within 8 minutes of application)
- Broadcasting slip-resistant aggregate (if required) to full cover
- Minimum 5-hour cure time at 25°C before topcoat application
Typical Applications
Nitoflor PU600 is typically used in:
- Wet processing zones in chemical processing plants
- Food preparation and manufacturing areas
- Cold rooms and wet processes
- Chemical storage and loading facilities
- Areas requiring high chemical resistance and mechanical durability
- Food handling areas (HACCP certified)
Limitations
- Not colour fast - may exhibit yellowing over time depending on UV and heat exposure
- Not suitable for deep freezing applications
- Not suitable for steam-only cleaning at 100°C (steam and hot water blend required)
- Components with identical batch numbers must be used in the same application area to ensure uniform colour
- Colour change is more noticeable in light colours and blues but does not compromise performance or chemical resistance
Compatibility Notes
Uniform colour requires using only components with identical batch numbers in single application areas.
