Concure B90: Comprehensive Technical Overview

Product Description

Concure B90 is a water-dispersed hydrocarbon resin and bitumen blend curing compound manufactured by Fosroc. It serves a dual purpose as both a concrete curing agent and a primer coat for asphalt and bitumen overlays, making it a versatile solution for road and bridge construction applications.

Key Features and Advantages

Concure B90 offers several distinctive benefits:

  • Dual Functionality: Acts as both a concrete curing compound and primer coat for asphalt or bitumen overlays in a single application
  • Water Retention: Achieves water retention efficiency of 92%, exceeding the >90% requirement
  • No Wax Content: Contains no wax, distinguishing it from certain other curing compounds
  • Reduced Shrinkage: Minimizes plastic shrinkage in concrete
  • Elimination of Traditional Methods: Eliminates the need for curing by ponded water, damp hessian, or polythene sheeting
  • Environmental Benefits: Water-based formulation with no solvent odour; equipment cleaning requires only water
  • Ideal Applications: Particularly suited for bridge decks, road construction, and parking decks

Application Guidance

Surface Preparation and Application

Concure B90 should be applied to concrete as soon as bleed water has dissipated and the new concrete has hardened sufficiently to avoid marking during application. The product is applied undiluted at a rate of 1 litre per 5 m².

Sand Placement Option

When concrete surfaces must be trafficable prior to overlay application, sand can be placed over the Concure B90 to increase the abrasion resistance of the coating.

Use as Prime Coat

Concure B90 can be used as a prime coat for asphalt overlays and does not require removal before cationic tack coat applications. However, it is important to note that Concure B90 is NOT a "tack coat" – where a tack coat is required, it should still be applied separately.

Storage and Shelf Life

Concure B90 should be kept in dry storage in the original, unopened packs. Shelf life may be reduced if stored at high temperatures and/or high humidity conditions.

Cleaning

Concure B90 should be removed from tools and equipment with water immediately after use.
