Nitofill LV: Low Viscosity Epoxy Crack Injection System

Overview

Nitofill LV is a low viscosity, dual cartridge, epoxy crack-injection system designed for injecting cracks in concrete and masonry structures. This high-strength resin injection system provides excellent bond to concrete and masonry substrates, making it ideal for small-scale crack repairs on site and suitable for both insitu and precast concrete elements.

Chemical Resistance

The cured Nitofill LV epoxy exhibits excellent resistance to:

• Oil and grease
• Fats
• Most chemicals
• Mild acids and alkalis
• Fresh and sea water

Note: Consult Fosroc when exposure to solvents or concentrated chemicals is anticipated.

Standards Compliance

Nitofill LV complies with AS 4020-2018 at an exposure level of 9,000mm² per litre. AWQC Report 326461 is available on the Fosroc website.

Product Composition

Nitofill LV is a two-part epoxy system consisting of:

• Base component - Primary epoxy component
• Hardener component - Secondary hardening agent
• Mixing ratio - 2 parts base to 1 part hardener by volume

Application Methods

Flange-Based Injection (Cartridge System)

• Uses Nitofill LV Gun (FC344221-UNIT) to inject resin
• Injection flanges bonded to surface using Nitomortar AP
• Suitable for surface-mounted crack repair

Hand Pump Application

• Manual mixing of base and hardener in 2:1 ratio
• Use spiral type mixer for 3 minutes
• Pour into grease-gun type pumps

Proportioning Pump Application

• Mechanical proportioning pumps deliver components in correct 2:1 ratio
• Typically supplied in 15 litre kits (10L base & 5L hardener)
• Calibrated pumps handle ratio automatically

Surface Preparation Requirements

All contact surfaces must be:

• Free from oil, grease, and free-standing water
• Free from loosely adherent material
• Lightly ground to remove contamination and assist adhesion
• Ideally ground to 5mm depth to accept surface seal epoxy and assist penetration
• Completely dust-free - vacuum removal recommended

Substrate Moisture Conditions

Critical Requirement: Nitofill LV should only be used in dry or saturated surface dry (SSD) concrete or masonry.

• Nitofill LV must not be injected into voids containing free water
• Any free water in cracks must be removed or allowed to dry before resin injection

Application Limitations

• Movement consideration - The system should not be used for cracks where movement is expected to continue; flexible sealant should be considered instead
• Exothermic reaction - All epoxy systems develop temperature rise on mixing; once mixed, place immediately without holding in bulk or re-lidding containers
• Limited pot life - Pot life is significantly reduced when held in bulk volume; use immediately after mixing

Storage Conditions

• Storage environment - Cool, dry conditions in original, unopened packs
• Shelf life - 3 years for 450ml cartridge pack
• Temperature sensitivity - High temperatures and/or high humidity conditions may reduce shelf life

Complementary Products

• Nitomortar AP - Epoxy adhesive used to bond flanges and seal crack faces prior to Nitofill LV injection
• Fosroc Solvent 10 - Used for cleaning all tools and equipment immediately after application
