Nitomortar AP - Multi-Purpose Epoxy Adhesive Repair Paste
Product Overview
Fosroc Nitomortar AP is a versatile two-component epoxy adhesive repair paste designed for speedy and permanent patching repairs to concrete structures. The product combines a white resin base component with a black curing agent (hardener) that, when mixed together, form a grey compound ideal for structural bonding, concrete repair, and specialized adhesive applications.
Primary Uses
Nitomortar AP serves multiple critical functions in concrete maintenance and repair work:
- Concrete Repairs: Speedy and permanent patching repairs to concrete structures and cementitious substrates
- Structural Bonding: Bonding of precast concrete components and repair work requiring high strength
- Emergency Repairs: Emergency repairs to concrete structures and industrial floors in chemical handling and process areas
- Adhesive Systems: Primary adhesive component within the Nitofill LV crack injection system
- Joint Sealing: Adhesive for the Expoband F bandage system, bonding waterproofing membranes to concrete
- Surface Preparation: Filling unfilled voids and blow-holes in concrete before epoxy coating applications
- Anchor Setting: Setting starter bars, dowels, holding down bolts, and anchoring applications
Key Advantages
- Excellent resistance to abrasion and impact - provides durable long-term protection
- Chemical Resistance: Unaffected by a wide range of acids, alkalis, and industrial chemicals
- Two-Pack Color Coding: Provides visual verification of correct mixing proportions
- Quality Control: Pre-weighed, quality-controlled materials ensure consistency and reduce site errors
- Damp Surface Tolerance: Can be applied to saturated surface dry (SSD) concrete
- Superior Slump Resistance: Excellent slump resistance up to 15mm thick, maintaining structural integrity during application
- Potable Water Approved: Tested and approved to AS4020:2018 standards
- Minimal Shrinkage: Cures with minimal shrinkage to a very strong, dense solid

- Note: High temperature and high humidity storage conditions may reduce shelf life
Application Instructions
Surface Preparation
Proper substrate preparation is essential for optimal performance:
- Remove all grease, oil, chemical contamination, dust, laitance, and loose concrete by scabbling or light bush hammering
- Concrete must be at least 14 days old prior to treatment
- Steel surfaces must be grit blasted to white metal
- Surfaces showing traces of oil must be degreased with a chemical degreaser prior to grit blasting
Mixing Method
- Transfer the entire contents of the hardener (black curing agent) into the base component (white resin)
- Mix thoroughly using a spiral stirrer for minimum 3-5 minutes until an even grey colour is achieved
- For part pack mixing, experienced applicators may elect to mix smaller quantities using the specified mix ratio (2:1 base to hardener), accepting responsibility for any off-ratio mixing
Application Methods
Nitomortar AP can be applied using different techniques depending on the application:
- Notched Trowel: For larger patch repairs and surface applications
- Putty Knife: For smaller repairs and detailed work
- Caulking Gun: For linear applications and joint filling
Application Steps
- Apply the mixed Nitomortar AP to a suitably prepared surface
- Bond surfaces should be held rigidly together until the material has set
- The material quickly cures to form a complete impermeable repair
Coverage Data
- Coverage Rate: Approximately 0.7 litres per metre (each mixed litre covers approximately 1m² at 1mm thickness)
- For Expoband F Applications: Approximately 0.35 litres per metre per side with 5mm encapsulation (35mm bonded width)
- Note: Coverage figures are theoretical; practical coverage may be reduced due to wastage factors and substrate variations
Cleaning & Removal
- Immediate Cleanup: All tools and equipment must be cleaned immediately after use with Fosroc Solvent 10
- Hardened Material Removal: Hardened material can only be removed mechanically
Standards Compliance
- AS4020:2018 Compliance: Nitomortar AP has been tested in conjunction with Expoband F to comply with potable water standards
